Location: Building 57, Street. 279, Sangkat Boeng Kok 1, Khan Toul Kork
Every year, Oxfam celebrates International Youth Day to show what we are doing to empower young women and men worldwide. We use this occasion as an opportunity to educate our youth on building confidence. Last year, the Oxfam Community of Youth Active Citizenship gathered in Montreal to highlight youth and overcoming inequality. We published a policy brief, and facilitated a Youth Summit on Inequality where young people developed a youth manifesto to end inequality. This year, Oxfam’s goal is to create a global movement with organizations in different countries and regions to work on youth empowerment. Youth Council of Cambodia will be joining Oxfam on International Youth Day for this celebration.
We found that many people can identify a concrete turning point that changed them to become who they are today. This turning point is often created by the people around them: people they can relate to and identify with, people that have similar backgrounds, and who have reached their own goals or dreams. Working with these role models can show young people what is possible, and what their peers were, and still are, able to do.
Objective: To inspire young women to pursue their personal and professional dreams by seeing their peers, best friends and other young women achieve their goals. “Young Women’s Confidence“ is the theme for Cambodia’s International Youth Day.
